The Deputy Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Dr. Ahmed Abdi Aadan, accompanied by members of the agency’s leadership, received Mr. Christian Saunders, the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Prevention and Protection of Gender-Based Violations, who is on a working visit to the country.
The meeting was also attended by the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia, Mr. George Conway, and the Head of the OCHA Office in Somalia. During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening protection and safety for vulnerable people in need of humanitarian assistance, and reinforcing efforts to prevent and combat gender-based violations.
Mr. Christian Saunders praised the important work SoDMA is carrying out in managing humanitarian situations and protecting vulnerable communities. He also thanked the agency’s officials for their warm welcome and effective cooperation.
