The Deputy Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Dr. Ahmed Abdi Aadan, closed the meeting of the National Disaster Management Coordination Committee (NDMCC), which focused on the country’s drought situation.
The meeting reviewed the latest drought conditions and the 2026 forecast, and a unified report was presented by the Federal Member States, along with an analysis prepared by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
During the meeting, coordination was strengthened among the Federal Government, Federal Member States, the Banadir Regional Administration, and United Nations agencies and their partners.
The meeting concluded with agreement on a unified national figure regarding the impact of the drought, improving data harmonization, defining response priorities and funding needs, and strengthening an effective coordination mechanism.
