The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, who participated in a meeting of the High-Level Committee overseeing the National Disaster Risk Management Fund, called for a coordinated approach to preparedness and coordination efforts related to the El Niño forecast in order to reduce the potential risks it may cause.

The Minister particularly emphasized the importance of ensuring full preparedness in the Banadir Region, given that it is home to the country’s largest population, including a significant number of vulnerable communities.
