The Deputy Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Dr. Ahmed Abdi Adan, chaired a meeting attended by representatives of institutions from member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), focusing on preparedness for and response to the impacts of Super El Niño.

The meeting presented information on the El Niño forecast, the anticipated scale of its impacts, and the regions of Somalia expected to be particularly vulnerable to heavy rainfall and flooding.

Representatives of institutions from OIC member states pledged to work closely with SoDMA, while SoDMA Assistant Commissioner for Arab and Islamic Affairs, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Hussein, highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to enhance joint efforts to reduce the impact of disasters and protect the lives and safety of the Somali people.
