The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, accompanied by the agency’s senior leadership, took part in the 1st Multilateral Comprehensive International Simulation Exercise (CISE) 2026, organized online by the National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan (NDMA).
Somalia’s participation was described as historic, marking the first time the country has joined an international simulation exercise of this kind. The CISE 2026 exercise focused on strengthening disaster preparedness, enhancing coordination among different institutions, and improving collaborative mechanisms for emergency response.
CISE 2026 brought together national and international agencies, security forces, universities, and private-sector organizations from multiple countries. SoDMA’s engagement provided a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience and draw effective lessons that can help strengthen Somalia’s national disaster management system.
