The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has concluded a two-day workshop to test the Shock-Responsive Social Protection (SRSP) system. The workshop brought together Federal Government institutions, Federal Member States, and international partners to assess the system’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) through a simulation exercise and an after-action review.
The objective was to ensure the system can respond to emergencies rapidly, efficiently, and in a coordinated manner. SRSP strengthens the linkage between social protection and disaster risk management, supporting a unified national mechanism that ensures timely and effective assistance reaches the most vulnerable communities when disasters occur.
In closing the workshop, SoDMA Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ahmed Abdi Adan underscored the importance of enhanced inter-agency coordination and comprehensive national preparedness to ensure swift, transparent, and impactful emergency response, and to reduce the impact of disasters on people and their assets.
