The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), H.E. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, held an important meeting in Mogadishu with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Somalia, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Salah Keshtah.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and partnership, particularly in the areas of humanitarian assistance, disaster risk prevention and preparedness, and institutional capacity building.
Ambassador Mohamed Salah Keshtah reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to continuing its support for the Somali people, especially during periods of drought, flooding, and other emergency situations.
The two sides also discussed programs to enhance the capacity of SoDMA staff, including the provision of specialized training by Egyptian experts to improve skills related to weather forecasting, risk assessment, and disaster management.
In conclusion, the SoDMA Commissioner expressed his appreciation to the Government of Egypt for its continued support to Somalia, noting that Egypt is a strategic partner that plays an important role in the country’s stability and development.
