MOGADISHU, SOMALIA – In a move reflecting the national commitment to effective coordination in facing humanitarian challenges, the Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moalim Abdulle, hosted a high-level delegation from Hirshabelle State at the agency’s headquarters in Mogadishu. The delegation included the State Minister of Relief and Acting Minister, Hon. Yusuf Ahmed Yalaxow, the Ministry’s Director General, Mr. Abdifatah Mohamed Yusuf, and the Mayor of Balcad District, Mr. Qasim Ali Nur (Qasim Furdug).
The meeting focused on the follow-up and evaluation of development and relief projects being implemented by SoDMA in Hirshabelle, foremost among them the “Drought Response Project Fund – ARC Payout,” which is supported by African Risk Capacity Organization (ARC) and effectively managed by SoDMA.
During the meeting, The Commissioner of the Agency Mr. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle emphasized that joint action between the Federal Government and Federal Member States is a cornerstone for achieving a rapid and sustainable response to disasters.
He noted that this cooperation embodies a unified national vision aimed at protecting citizens and enhancing their resilience in the face of crises.
For their part, Hirshabelle officials praised SoDMA’s significant efforts in delivering essential support to affected communities, affirming that these humanitarian initiatives instill hope and directly contribute to improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening frameworks for joint cooperation and coordination. The goal is to accelerate and expand the scope of ongoing projects to ensure maximum benefit for the Somali people and to move forward in achieving sustainable development and stability across the country.
