The Deputy Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Dr. Ahmed Abdi Aadan, closed a meeting convened to endorse the review of the National Disaster Management Policy, which serves as a cornerstone for strengthening disaster prevention, preparedness, and response across the country.
The meeting discussed the implementation of a unified policy framework to guide government institutions and partners, with the aim of ensuring effective coordination and reducing the impact of both natural and human-induced disasters.
The meeting was attended by institutions of the Federal Government, Federal Member States, United Nations agencies—including WFP, FAO, OCHA, and IOM—as well as humanitarian partners and donors.
In conclusion, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ahmed Abdi Aadan underscored the importance of sustained collaboration, data harmonization, and sustainable financing to fully implement the National Disaster Management Policy.
