The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, received at the agency headquarters the newly appointed Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Somalia, Mr. Hameed Nuru.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the two sides, particularly in preparedness and rapid emergency response, building community resilience, and improving early warning systems.
They also discussed the humanitarian situation in the country and the analysis of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) system.
WFP also presented its Country Strategic Plan for 2026–2028, which aligns with the government’s development plans.
Finally, the SoDMA Commissioner, Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, thanked WFP for its continued support and close partnership with the agency, and emphasized that cooperation will be further strengthened to deliver effective assistance to Somali people affected by drought.
