The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, accompanied by the Galmudug Drought Relief Committee, and currently on the fifth day of a drought response mission across Galmudug areas, arrived today in Af-Barwaaqo District in the Mudug Region.
The SoDMA Commissioner, Mr. Mahmoud Moallim, handed over 100 water trucks to the Af-Barwaaqo District Administration and the district drought committee to support people who have been severely affected by the drought in the district and its surrounding villages.
During his stay in the district, the Commissioner visited areas facing very harsh living conditions, where severe drought and the effects of climate change have combined. The spread of sand encroachment and poor road conditions have created serious challenges in accessing sufficient water and in ensuring that aid can easily reach some of the remote communities.
