The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, accompanied by the Galmudug Drought Committee, today arrived in Qalqaloocan area in Mudug region on the sixth day of an ongoing drought-response mission across Galmudug.
The SoDMA Commissioner paid a special visit to the Mire junction in the rural area of Qalqaloocan, where Mire Hirsi Diini, a well-known elder in the community, recently died as a result of thirst and malnutrition caused by the prolonged drought.
Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle assessed the situation on the ground and the urgent humanitarian needs facing the area. He then handed over 50 water trucks to the local drought committee to ensure water reaches drought-affected communities and to help prevent further loss caused by water scarcity.
