The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has launched the Early Warning Initiative aimed at strengthening climate resilience in Somalia.

The initiative seeks to reduce disaster-related deaths by 42% by 2030.

The project will be implemented nationwide and is being led by Somali Disaster Management Agency in close collaboration with federal government ministries, agencies, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The initiative is funded with US$12.7 million from the Green Climate Fund (GCF), alongside additional financing from United Nations Development Programme and other partners.
