The Director General of the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Hassan Issa, participated in a high-level conference in Nairobi focused on human mobility, the environment, and climate change in East and the Horn of Africa.
During the conference, Mr. Hassan Issa presented Somalia’s experiences in disaster risk management, highlighting progress made in early warning systems, emergency response coordination, and strengthening community resilience.
He also emphasized the importance of emergency preparedness, early warning systems, and regional cooperation in addressing the impacts of climate change, droughts, floods, and displacement.
Finally, the conference strengthened regional knowledge-sharing and cooperation aimed at developing unified strategies to address challenges arising from climate change and disasters.
