Mogadishu — The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP), has presented an operational plan to identify and respond to urgent needs arising from the ongoing drought, with a specific focus on the most vulnerable locations.
The plan links life-saving assistance with livelihood protection. It prioritizes rapid measures to ensure access to emergency food support, while also safeguarding community livelihoods—particularly agriculture and livestock—to prevent the drought from escalating into a broader humanitarian crisis.
The partners emphasized that the approach is designed to deliver timely support to at-risk communities, strengthen resilience, and reduce the likelihood of further deterioration in drought-affected areas.
