Mogadishu — The Director of the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), Mr. Hassan Isse, has presented an advocacy strategy to strengthen Somalia’s drought response, emphasizing the need for a more adaptive and effective approach amid increasingly challenging conditions.
He noted that the combined pressures of climate-related impacts and global economic constraints are making traditional response models less sustainable. As a result, he called for a renewed approach grounded in efficiency, self-reliance, and the strategic use of available resources.
Mr. Isse further stressed that stronger coordination, the prioritization of high-impact, life-saving interventions, and the optimal use of domestic and partner capacities will be critical to sustaining assistance and reducing vulnerability during current and future drought shocks.
