The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has reactivated rescue boats previously deployed to Baardheere District as part of preparations to mitigate the potential impacts of the anticipated Super El Niño conditions. The Agency also handed over four engines to the district administration to strengthen local emergency response capacity.
At a brief handover ceremony held along the banks of the Jubba River, SoDMA official Abdullahi Mohamed Abdi (Abdullahi Qaran) formally handed over the reactivated boats and their engines to the Baardheere district administration.
The initiative aims to strengthen local preparedness, improve rescue operations, and enhance the district’s capacity to respond to potential flooding and other emergencies associated with Super El Niño.
