The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) held an emergency coordination meeting in Baardheere with humanitarian and emergency response organizations to strengthen preparedness for Super El Niño. Baardheere is among the areas at risk of potential impacts from the weather phenomenon.
The meeting focused on enhancing preparedness for Super El Niño, particularly the risks of flooding and heavy rainfall, and identifying early actions to mitigate their potential impacts.
Participants also discussed strengthening partnerships, preparing designated sites for the relocation of affected communities, improving operational coordination, and ensuring emergency response readiness, with priority given to people living in high-risk areas.
Abdullahi Qaran, a SoDMA official, emphasized the importance of preparing designated relocation sites, raising public awareness, and strengthening cooperation between government institutions and humanitarian partners to minimize the potential damage caused by Super El Niño in Baardheere District.
