The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahamoud Moalin Abdulle, received at the agency’s headquarters the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Gamal Mohamed Hassan, along with members of the Federal Parliament of Somalia representing the North-Eastern regions.
The meeting focused on the worsening drought situation affecting the North-Eastern areas, which has had a severe impact on communities and livestock. During the meeting, the Minister of Commerce and Industry noted that the recurring lack of rainfall has led to water shortages, food insecurity, and increasingly difficult living conditions, leaving local communities in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Commissioner of SoDMA, Mr. Mahamoud Moalin Abdulle, expressed his appreciation for the visit and the information shared. He reaffirmed that the agency is making strong efforts to deliver urgent relief to drought-affected areas, particularly in the North-Eastern regions, in coordination with government institutions and international partners.
