Kigali, Rwanda — Senior Adviser Mohamed Mukhtar Ali, a member of the Somali government delegation, is participating in the Africa Food Systems Forum 2026, currently taking place in Kigali, Rwanda.

The Somali delegation attending the forum comprises representatives from the government, civil society, and the private sector, who are representing Somalia in discussions and sessions focused on transforming food systems, strengthening community resilience, and addressing challenges affecting food security.

Representing Somalia at the forum, Senior Adviser Mohamed Mukhtar Ali participated in a panel discussion titled “The Critical Role of Data and Digital Information Services,” where he highlighted the importance of accurate and timely data and digital information services in supporting decision-making and disaster management.

Mr. Mohamed Mukhtar stated that SoDMA is working to develop systems that ensure the Government of Somalia has full ownership and management of data related to disaster management. He noted that SoDMA is working closely with various government institutions and international partners supporting the government in the areas of data management, disaster management, and the development of digital systems.

The Africa Food Systems Forum 2026 serves as an important platform bringing together African governments, international organizations, civil society, the private sector, and development partners to discuss sustainable solutions for transforming food systems and strengthening the resilience of communities across Africa.
