The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) today delivered food assistance to communities in the villages of Kabxanleey and Deefow, located on the outskirts of Beledweyne, the capital of the Hiiraan Region. The assistance is intended to support vulnerable communities affected by the ongoing drought.
The relief package consisted primarily of essential food commodities aimed at easing the hardships faced by vulnerable households.
SoDMA worked in collaboration with the Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Hassan Adan, to facilitate the delivery of the assistance to these communities. The Minister was represented on the ground by a delegation led by Abdihakim Mohamed Hussein, Secretary General of the Hirshabelle State Parliament.
The distribution was attended by Abdifitah Mohamed Yusuf, Director of Federal Member States Relations at Somali Disaster Management Agency, who engaged directly with beneficiaries to learn about the challenges and priority needs facing their communities.
