The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Ma’allin Abdulle, held a meeting with representatives from UN Women, Sida, and Norad to discuss strengthening disaster risk management and humanitarian preparedness.

The meeting focused on increasing the participation of women and women-led organizations in disaster preparedness and humanitarian response coordination, while further strengthening cooperation among the partners.

The discussions also highlighted the role of women-led organizations in supporting communities affected by drought and strengthening preparedness for anticipated climate-related risks, particularly during the upcoming Deyr season.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of strong partnerships and meaningful women’s participation in strengthening disaster preparedness, anticipatory action, and disaster risk management across Somalia.
