The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, accompanied by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of Northeastern State and the Mayor of Las Anod, officially inaugurated the newly completed State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) in Northeastern State.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of Northeastern State, Mr. Mohamed Diiriye Sharif, expressed his appreciation to SoDMA and the Government of China for their support in establishing and constructing the new center.

SoDMA, acting under the directive of the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Hamza Abdi Barre, previously laid the foundation stone for the facility. The completed State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) was officially handed over to the Northeastern State administration.

Speaking at the inauguration, Commissioner Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle urged the authorities to make effective use of the SEOC to accelerate humanitarian response, strengthen emergency preparedness, improve services to affected communities, and enhance coordination between the Federal Government of Somalia and the Northeastern State administration.

The establishment of the SEOC marks an important step toward strengthening disaster preparedness, emergency coordination, and humanitarian response capacity in Northeastern State.
