The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has concluded a three-day workshop in Mogadishu marking the launch of the implementation of the Somalia National Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (S-MHEWS).

The workshop was officially closed by Mr. Khadar Sheikh Mohamed, Director of the Disaster Risk Management Department at Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA). In his closing remarks, he emphasized the importance of implementing the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning System to strengthen Somalia’s disaster preparedness and emergency response capacity.

The workshop brought together representatives from ministries of the Federal Government of Somalia, officials from Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development. Discussions focused on establishing a unified national system that integrates government institutions to provide timely early warnings for multiple hazards across the country.
