The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, received at the agency’s headquarters the Head of the World Food Programme (WFP), Mr. Hamid Noor, and a delegation he led.
The two sides focused their meeting on strengthening cooperation and accelerating support for Somali communities facing drought conditions.
The SoDMA Commissioner emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness and prevention, particularly as the agency was being handed over a modern early-warning forecasting system for drought prevention, jointly implemented by SoDMA and WFP.
Finally, Mr. Mahmoud Moallim expressed his appreciation to WFP for its continued support to Somalia, noting that the new system could play a major role in saving the lives and property of the Somali people.
