Mogadishu, Somalia — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, today received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Somalia, H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Saleh Al-Muwalad, at his office in Mogadishu.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Maxamuud Macalin Cabdulle, along with senior officials from both sides. Discussions focused on strengthening the historic ties between the two nations and enhancing cooperation in the areas of security, economy, investment, and social development. The two sides also reviewed progress on development projects funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Somalia and discussed the Kingdom’s vital role in providing humanitarian assistance to communities affected by drought.
During the meeting, the SoDMA Commissioner presented an update on the current drought situation and the Government’s ongoing efforts to safeguard vulnerable populations from its impacts. Ambassador Al-Muwalad reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening the strategic relationship and expressed readiness to further expand support and development initiatives in Somalia.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre extended his gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its consistent and long-standing support to the Somali people and Government. He emphasized the importance of bolstering Saudi investment in Somalia’s economic infrastructure to support long-term stability and development.
