The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mohamud Macalin Abdulle, and the delegation he leads have arrived in Kismayo, the capital of Jubbaland.

The delegation was received by the Jubbaland Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and the Chairperson of the Jubbaland Drought Committee, Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud, along with other senior regional officials.

During the visit, the SoDMA delegation will conduct field assessments in several drought-affected areas across Jubbaland to evaluate the severity and impacts of the ongoing drought and to provide technical guidance for strengthening emergency response efforts.

The Commissioner’s visit is accompanied by George Conway, Deputy Head of United Nations Humanitarian Affairs in Somalia. The mission aims to reinforce coordination between national authorities and international partners in responding to humanitarian emergencies and enhancing disaster preparedness.
