Former Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Mahdi Mohamed Guled, today visited the headquarters of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), where he held a special meeting with the Agency’s Commissioner, Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle.
The meeting focused in depth on the severe drought situation in the country, which has reached a critical level and has had a widespread impact on regions across Somalia and on vulnerable communities. SoDMA Commissioner Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle provided a detailed briefing on the scale of the drought, its effects, and the intensive efforts being made to accelerate the emergency response.
The Commissioner also emphasized the importance of unity and mutual support within the community, especially during this blessed month, in order to strengthen assistance for people affected by the drought.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Mahdi Mohamed Guled, who is currently a member of the House of the People, pledged to contribute his voice and role to the relief efforts, drawing on his previous experience related to managing past droughts in the country during his time as Deputy Prime Minister.
