The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, participated in a national consultative meeting organized by the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development, which focused on strengthening drought preparedness and response across the country.
The meeting brought together key productive-sector ministries and the Office of the Prime Minister. Participants were presented with the latest updates on the food security situation, along with an in-depth analysis of how the drought is affecting people’s livelihoods and livestock.
The meeting also reviewed SoDMA’s Emergency and Short-Term Response Plan, as well as the Food Security Contingency Preparedness Plan (FSCPP), both of which are critical for strengthening community resilience—especially among vulnerable households.
In closing, the SoDMA Commissioner noted that the country is facing severe drought conditions and called for collective action to protect lives and livestock, and to accelerate coordinated response and preparedness efforts.
