The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, received a delegation led by Ms.Merete Dyrud, Charge d’Affaires of the Norwegian Embassy to the Federal Republic of Somalia, at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).
The meeting focused on the worsening drought situation in Somalia, which is currently spreading across many parts of the country and has affected more than 74 districts. It was emphasized that communities impacted by the drought are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance and immediate support.
Ms. Marit Fikke, representing the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commended the continuous efforts of SoDMA, particularly its emergency response operations aimed at supporting communities affected by drought and other natural disasters.
In conclusion, the Commissioner of SoDMA, Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, expressed his appreciation to the Government of Norway for its continued support to Somalia, especially in the area of humanitarian assistance. He noted that Norway is a strategic partner standing alongside Somalia and expressed hope for further strengthening cooperation between the two sides.
