The Deputy Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Dr. Ahmed Abdi Aden, inaugurated the second-quarter (Q2) session of the National Technical Working Group on Disaster Preparedness (NTWG), which focused on strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing collaboration among stakeholders involved in disaster preparedness and risk reduction.
The meeting, chaired by the Director of SoDMA’s Disaster Risk Management Department, brought together officials from the Federal Government of Somalia and international organizations working in disaster risk management and humanitarian assistance.
During the session, participants reviewed strategies to improve disaster preparedness and prevention plans, strengthen coordination among relevant institutions, and accelerate proactive measures to reduce the impact of recurring disasters on Somali communities.
In his closing remarks, the Deputy Commissioner of Somali Disaster Management Agency, Dr. Ahmed Abdi Aden, emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration, evidence-based planning, and scientific forecasting to enhance disaster preparedness and improve emergency response across the country.
