The Director of the Disaster Risk Management Department at the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Khadar Sheikh Mohamed, today officially inaugurated a five-day training program on Household Economy Analysis (HEA).

The training aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in assessing household economic conditions, enabling them to generate reliable data for identifying the level of household vulnerability and determining which families should be prioritized for humanitarian assistance.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Khadar Sheikh Mohamed encouraged participants to make the most of the training, emphasizing the critical role of accurate data in informing humanitarian planning and the effective targeting of relief assistance.

Also speaking at the opening ceremony was Mr. Abukar Gacal, Director of Programs and Acting Country Director of International Rescue Committee (IRC) Somalia, who delivered remarks highlighting the importance of the training in strengthening needs assessment and humanitarian response. He urged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to better serve vulnerable communities across Somalia.

The training is supported by the Somalia office of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of institutions engaged in humanitarian needs assessment and disaster risk management.
