The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) today distributed various food items to vulnerable families affected by the ongoing drought. The beneficiaries were Somali families displaced from different regions of the country due to the prolonged drought.
This assistance marked the first phase of a relief operation implemented in Ceelasha Biyaha, benefiting vulnerable households whose livelihoods, as well as their livestock, have been severely affected by the drought.
Speaking at the event were Sahra Ali Yusuf, Director of the Relief Department at Somali Disaster Management Agency, the Humanitarian Coordinator for Lower Shabelle Region, and the Deputy Chairperson for Social Affairs of the local administration. They stated that the food assistance program will be expanded to reach drought-affected communities across most regions of the country.
