Mogadishu, Somalia — The Chairman of the Somali Council of Scholars, Sheikh Aaden Abuukar Cismaan (Suufi Yare), led a delegation of council members on a visit to the humanitarian relief warehouse of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA). The scholars were warmly received by SoDMA Commissioner Mr. Maxamuud Macallin Cabdulle.
The purpose of the visit was to raise awareness among the Somali public—particularly those with financial means, the diaspora, the business community, charitable organizations, and international donors—about the critical decline in external humanitarian support. This sharp reduction has resulted in empty relief warehouses at a time when Somalia is confronting one of the most severe droughts in recent years.
During the visit, the scholars issued an urgent appeal to all Somalis blessed with resources to come to the aid of their vulnerable brothers and sisters by contributing to a collective and immediate emergency response. They also conveyed a strong message to the international community, stressing that Somalia is facing a difficult moment that demands timely and decisive action to respond to ongoing humanitarian appeals.
SoDMA Commissioner Mr. Maxamuud Macallin Cabdulle thanked the scholars for their vital role in supporting efforts to prevent famine and assist crisis-affected communities. He called on them to continue strengthening their advocacy on behalf of the most vulnerable populations who are in urgent need of support.
