The Deputy Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Dr. Ahmed Abdi Adan, today opened in Mogadishu a meeting of Somalia’s National Technical Working Group on Anticipatory Action.

The quarterly meeting brought together government officials, representatives of international and local organizations, and experts working in disaster risk management.

The meeting focused on strengthening coordination among relevant institutions and developing effective plans to help communities reduce the impacts of disasters.

The Director of SoDMA’s Disaster Risk Management Department, Mr. Khadar Sheikh Mohamed Nur, who chaired the meeting, highlighted the importance of strengthening national preparedness plans and anticipatory actions aimed at reducing the impact of disasters.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ahmed Abdi Adan, for his part, emphasized the importance of joint efforts and institutional cooperation, stressing the need to implement effective measures to strengthen preparedness and prevent disaster risks.
