The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, received the Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Mr. Jan Egeland, at the Agency’s headquarters.

The meeting focused on Somalia’s humanitarian situation, particularly drought, floods, conflict, displacement, food insecurity, and the risks associated with Super El Niño, as well as efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and response.

Jan Egeland toured SoDMA’s offices and operations, where he observed the Agency’s work on early warning, emergency response, and strengthening community resilience.

The NRC reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its support and cooperation with the Government of Somalia, particularly in humanitarian response and assistance to vulnerable communities.

In conclusion, SoDMA Commissioner Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle welcomed Jan Egeland’s visit and emphasized that strengthened cooperation and international support are essential to assisting Somali communities affected by humanitarian crises.
