The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, accompanied by the Somalia Representative of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Mr. Mahmoud Kaarshe, today officially inaugurated the launch meeting for the Somalia Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (S-MHEWS).

The meeting focuses on the implementation of a unified National Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (NMHEWS) that will integrate government institutions to provide timely early warnings for a wide range of hazards and disasters.

The event is attended by representatives from ministries of the Federal Government of Somalia, officials from the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), and representatives of Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), who are collaborating to advance the establishment of Somalia’s national early warning system.
