Mogadishu, Somalia: Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Ma’allin Abdulle, received a delegation from the Somali Cooperative Movement (UDHIS), led by its Chairman, Mr. Aded Osman Shurie, at the Agency’s headquarters.
UDHIS comprises six cooperative organizations representing the transport and construction, fisheries, industrial and handicraft, consumer and services, livestock, forestry and frankincense, and agricultural sectors.
The meeting focused on strengthening skills and domestic production, creating employment opportunities, and supporting efforts to reduce unemployment and irregular migration, with the aim of building more resilient communities and strengthening national resilience to emerging challenges.
The two sides also discussed the role of Somali cooperatives in supporting humanitarian assistance and disaster response during emergencies, as well as strengthening cooperation between government institutions and cooperative organizations.
