The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, delivered remarks at the Somalia Country Humanitarian Forum (CHF) in Baidoa.
In his address, the Commissioner noted that Somalia continues to face the impacts of droughts, floods, and climate change. He also warned of the risks posed by the anticipated El Niño rains, which could trigger widespread flooding and humanitarian challenges.
He highlighted that Somali Disaster Management Agency has developed the National El Niño Preparedness and Response Plan, which focuses on early warning systems, preventive measures, pre-positioning of emergency relief supplies, strengthening coordination, and enhancing emergency response readiness.
In conclusion, Commissioner Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle called on humanitarian organizations to further strengthen collaboration and coordination to ensure that assistance is delivered efficiently and reaches the most vulnerable communities without delay.
