The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, today received a delegation from the Government of Sweden and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) at the agency’s headquarters. The delegation was led by Annika Jayawardena, Deputy Head of the East and Horn of Africa Department at Sida Headquarters. The delegation also included Per Karlsson, Head of Cooperation for Somalia at the Embassy of Sweden.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in disaster management, disaster risk reduction, and the development of early warning systems in the country. The delegation also visited the SoDMA Data Center, where they observed the systems used for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating early warning information.
Finally, the Commissioner of Somali Disaster Management Agency, Mr. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, commended the continued partnership of the Government of Sweden and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), thanking them for their support in strengthening disaster management capacities and enhancing the resilience of Somali communities.
