On the third day of the emergency water-trucking response, relief operations continued at full pace across the South West State, particularly in Baidoa and the surrounding villages, to assist communities affected by the severe drought.
Today, water-trucking activities were carried out in areas under Baidoa, where life-saving water was delivered to several locations hosting internally displaced people and vulnerable families facing acute water shortages and harsh living conditions.
The response is being implemented by the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs of the South West State, as part of intensified efforts to save people affected by the drought.
Officials leading the response, including the Deputy Minister of the South West State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, the Baidoa district administration, and SoDMA Assistant Commissioner Abdirahman Wahid, stated that the operation will continue and will be extended to other areas in urgent need of assistance in order to reduce the impact of the drought and support vulnerable families across South West State.
