Mogadishu — The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA),Mr. Mohamuud Moalin Abdulle, has called for urgent, coordinated action to save the lives of people affected by the worsening drought.
The Commissioner today opened a high-level coordination meeting bringing together government institutions and international partners to assess the drought situation and related food insecurity. The meeting focused on areas facing the most severe conditions, particularly locations classified under IPC Phase 4, and aimed to develop a cost-effective response plan with clearly defined costs, roles, and responsibilities. Participants also reviewed ongoing interventions and agreed on the need to scale up existing efforts to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
Concluding his remarks, Commissioner Mohamuud Moalin Abdulle urged all partners to act swiftly and collectively, stressing that the outcomes of the meeting will have a direct impact on mitigating the effects of drought and saving the lives of the Somali people.
