The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahamuud Moallim Abdulle, participated today in the regular Thursday meeting of the Council of Ministers, chaired by the Prime Minister of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre.
During the session, Commissioner Mohamuud Moallim presented a comprehensive briefing to the Cabinet on the ongoing humanitarian response efforts and the government’s preparedness plan to address the worsening drought situation across the country.
The report submitted to the Council highlighted that approximately 4.4 million people are currently facing emergency conditions and are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. SoDMA, in collaboration with its partners, is working tirelessly to save lives and alleviate the suffering of drought-affected communities.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister instructed all relevant government institutions to respond swiftly to the needs of the population and to intensify emergency response efforts to mitigate the widespread impact of the drought.
