The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has conducted a training session in Mogadishu to strengthen the knowledge and skills of its officers in preventing the diversion and misuse of humanitarian assistance, promoting transparency and accountability, and safeguarding the rights of disaster-affected populations.
The training, organized in collaboration between SoDMA and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), focused on identifying and mitigating risks associated with the diversion and misuse of humanitarian assistance before, during, and after its distribution, while strengthening transparency in humanitarian operations.
The training also highlighted the importance of accountability to affected populations, protecting the rights of beneficiaries, and upholding the humanitarian principle of Do No Harm to ensure that assistance reaches those in need safely, fairly, and with dignity.
