Dr. Ahmed Abdi Adan, Deputy Commissioner of SoDMA, participated in a workshop focused on enhancing the Federal and State Early Warning Systems in Somalia. The session aimed to improve our responses to emergencies resulting from climate change, fostering collaboration and innovative strategies for better preparedness.
The project represents a successful collaboration among SoDMA, Federal Member States’ Ministries of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of Hirshabelle and Southwest, the SCRP Office of the Ministry of Finance, and the World Food Programme (WFP). Funded by the World Bank, this initiative has been effectively implemented by different levels of government, demonstrating a strong commitment to addressing humanitarian needs and disaster management in the region.
Over the course of the two-day workshop, participants collaboratively reviewed all the plans that had been developed, along with their progress and the valuable lessons learned throughout the project.
Additionally, the meeting provided a platform to outline a new strategy focused on enhancing Somalia’s resilience against disasters and the impacts of climate change. This proactive approach aims to strengthen the country’s efforts in building a safer and more sustainable future.
