The Country Humanitarian Forum #CHF2025, hosted by the Somali Disaster Management Agency in partnership with the Galmudug Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, successfully concluded in Galkayo, Galmudug State.
The forum emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration among relief organizations, exploring sustainable solutions to address climate change, and reinforcing emergency response mechanisms. This event marked a significant step towards building a more resilient community in the face of ongoing challenges.
The conference brought together a diverse group of key stakeholders, including the leadership of SoDMA, the Director General of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), and Ministers from the Federal Member States’ Ministries of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management. Additionally, representatives from the Banadir Region, Galmudug, Mudug Regional Administration, Galkayo City Administration, United Nations Delegates, the Union of Islamic Clerics, various donors, international organizations, local entities, and civil society contributed to a collaborative and impactful discussion. This gathering highlighted the importance of cooperation among various sectors to address humanitarian and disaster management challenges effectively.
The conference took a proactive approach to addressing the humanitarian situation in the country by exploring practical solutions to interconnected challenges. It highlighted the impact of inadequate Deyr rainfall, the less favorable Gu’ season, and the looming threat of La Nina.
Discussions centered on prioritizing the needs of vulnerable populations, modernizing the aid delivery system, and strengthening the capacity of government agencies. These collective efforts aim to effectively tackle the recurring issues that affect people’s lives and create a more resilient response framework for the future.
The CHF serves as a quarterly platform dedicated to evaluating the humanitarian landscape in the country. It focuses on the progress achieved over the past three months, identifies any registered delays, and outlines strategies for the upcoming months.
