SoDMA Commissioner Mahamoud Moallim and Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Amina Hussein Ali, jointly led a productive meeting to explore collaborative strategies for enhancing cooperation between relief agencies and their governmental counterparts in Somalia.
The meeting focused on fostering collaboration among the parties to effectively address the challenges posed by drought and limited relief resources. Participants agreed on the importance of holding regular meetings to ensure ongoing communication and cooperation.
The FGS will take the lead in mobilizing domestic resources, leveraging the expertise of traders and exporters. This united approach will enable them to respond to emergencies more efficiently and provide meaningful support to the community.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including the Deputy Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General and the Coordinator for Relief Affairs in Somalia. It also featured the heads of the UN OCHA and WFP agencies in Somalia, along with representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), and the Federal Member States Ministries of Humanitarian Affairs and Labour and Social Affairs.
