Mogadishu, Somalia – May 30, 2025 – The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has launched a significant relief operation to address humanitarian needs and support stabilization efforts in the Lower Shabelle region. In a recent initiative, SoDMA dispatched 10 trucks loaded with food supplies to assist communities impacted by ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
The aid, targeting the KM50 community and surrounding villages, was successfully delivered by SoDMA Commissioner Mahamuud Moallim to the district commissioner of KM50 and the Relief Coordinator of Lower Shabelle. The donation is set to benefit 6,000 families displaced from their homes and farms due to conflict.
During a press conference, Commissioner Moallim underscored the importance of the aid in supporting vulnerable populations. He extended gratitude to the Chinese government for their critical contribution to this relief effort, highlighting the value of international partnerships in addressing Somalia’s humanitarian challenges.
SoDMA continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting communities across the South West and beyond, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of humanitarian and stabilization efforts throughout Somalia.
