Mogadishu — Mukhtar Sheikh Hussein Jimale, Senior Advisor for Emergency Response and Recovery at the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), with over 20 years of experience in disaster management and humanitarian response, presented a study at the 2nd Somalia Disaster Resilience Conference.
His paper, titled “Foundations of Disaster Risk Reduction: The Role of Research and Education in Understanding Disaster Risks,” emphasized the importance of knowledge-based approaches in strengthening Somalia’s resilience.
Mukhtar highlighted that integrating academic research and public education into national disaster strategies is key to building long-term preparedness and safeguarding vulnerable communities.
