Mogadishu — As drought conditions across the country continue to worsen, the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has successfully completed Phase Three of its food distribution project in the Balcad and Jalalaqsi districts of the Hirshabelle Regional State.
The latest phase of the intervention reached 2,009 families in Jalalaqsi District and 3,696 families in Balcad District, providing vital assistance to households facing the severe impacts of drought.
In total, 5,705 families in both districts have benefited from the project across its three phases, which was designed to reduce food insecurity and protect vulnerable communities affected by the ongoing humanitarian situation.
The distribution initiative—previously launched by the Chairman of SoDMA, Mr. Mohamud Macalin—has contributed directly to saving lives and supporting families most at risk, while strengthening local resilience in the face of recurring climate shocks.
